EXPERIENCE

Matters.

EXPERIENCE Matters is the theme for Brian Wood’s run
to become the next Secretary of State of West Virginia.

Brian has served as the Putnam County Clerk for over 19 years and has administered 26 elections,
not including assisting with numerous municipal elections. He has a 100% clean audit record with zero critical findings.

Wood is a “hands on” County Clerk but has made time to advise and council other Clerks throughout the State. He has served as President of the West Virginia County Clerks Association and is the local representative for the State of West Virginia as a member of the U.S. Elections Assistance Commission. Brian has been recognized by his peers as a leader, being awarded the “Danny Cline Memorial Distinguished Service Award”. Other recognition has come from the National Association of Secretaries of State, being awarded the “Extraordinary Efforts to Promote Voter Engagement Award”.

Brian Wood’s vision for the WV Secretary of State’s office is to continue to provide fair elections in WV, where everyone can have their voice heard without struggle or intimidation. He is a strong advocate for voter verified paper audit trail and believes in the principle of “one person – one vote”! Wood will also strive to make the Secretary of State’s office more accessible online while maintaining exceptional customer service.
