Dear Voters,

I am asking for your vote. As a faith-based conservative, I have served as Putnam County Clerk for over 19 years and have administered 26 elections, not including the numerous municipal elections I have assisted with. I have a 100% clean audit record with zero critical findings. I am a hands-on clerk who has conducted over 125 election worker training classes and has worked with three Secretary of State administrations to provide secure elections throughout West Virginia.

Having served as President of the West Virginia County Clerks Association, where I acted on behalf of the County Clerks as a liaison to the Secretary of State’s office and to the state legislature, an honor bestowed upon me by my fellow County Clerks, the relationships I have built with County Clerks throughout WV will serve me well as Secretary of State. Additionally, I am the local representative for the State of West Virginia as a member of the U.S. Elections Assistance Commission, participate as a Help America Vote Act (HAVA) Grant Board Member for the Secretary of State’s office, and am a Board Member of the West Virginia Association of Counties.

I believe in fair elections and encourage everyone to have their voices heard by voting, and have been recognized locally and nationally for my efforts: I am the past recipient of the Danny Cline Memorial Distinguished Service Award voted on by my peers and a recipient of the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) Award for Extraordinary Efforts to Promote Voter Engagement.

My vision for the WV Secretary of State’s office is to continue to provide fair elections in WV, where everyone can have their voice heard without struggle or intimidation. I am a strong advocate for voter-verified paper audit trail and believe in the principle of “one person – one vote”!

Even though I do not have millions in the bank or a brand name, I believe West Virginians like you can appreciate someone who has worked their way up, spending decades learning, serving, and preparing for the office. When voting, remember I am the only candidate with election administration experience who has answered to the voters time and time again. I encourage you to contact someone in Putnam County to inquire about my character, work ethic, and dedication to the people I serve. On election night, while the other candidates are at their watch parties, there will be only one candidate actually working to provide West Virginia with safe and secure elections. I hope you will consider voting for me. It would be an honor to serve the people of the great state of West Virginia.

Respectfully,
Brian Wood
